Cypherock X1 Cards

Bank Grade Security inside your X1 Cards

The Cypherock X1 Cards feature bank-grade EAL 6+ certified security with end-to-end encrypted NFC communication between the cards and X1 Vault. They offer over 500,000 read cycles and 20+ years of data retention, with security successfully audited by SERMA.

Description

Cypherock X1 Cards are the four individual key shard cards that accompany the Cypherock X1 hardware wallet system. Each card holds one cryptographic share of your private key, split using Shamir's Secret Sharing, and features bank-grade security with EAL 6+ certified chips.

Security Specifications

  • EAL 6+ Certified Secure Chip — Bank-grade security inside each X1 Card, providing the highest level of certification for a secure element.
  • End-to-End Encrypted NFC Communication — All communication between the X1 Cards and the X1 Vault is encrypted to prevent eavesdropping and attacks.
  • Externally Audited — Successfully security audited by SERMA, a trusted security evaluation laboratory.

Durability

  • Over 500,000 Read Cycles — Designed for long-term, repeated use without degradation.
  • 20+ Years Data Retention — Your key shards remain safely stored for decades.

How They Work

  1. When you set up your Cypherock X1, your private key is cryptographically split into 5 parts using Shamir's Secret Sharing.
  2. One part is stored in the X1 Vault, and the other 4 parts are stored on these X1 Cards.
  3. To make a transaction, tap any 1 out of 4 cards on the X1 Vault — no seed phrase needed.

Key Benefit

Since no single card or device holds the complete private key, your crypto remains secure even if one or more cards are lost or compromised. You never need to write down, type, or expose your seed phrase.

Highlights

Pros

  • Over 500,000 read cycles and 20+ years data retention for long-term key shard storage.
  • Bank-grade EAL 6+ certified secure chips with end-to-end encrypted NFC communication for maximum security.
  • Security audited by SERMA — a trusted security evaluation laboratory.

Cons

  • Requires the Cypherock X1 Vault base station to operate — adds hardware dependency.
  • Each card holds only a cryptographic shard — you need at least 1 card plus the vault to make any transaction.
  • Only functional as part of the Cypherock X1 system — cannot be used independently or with other wallets.
