Keystone Tablet Punch is a BIP39-compatible metal seed phrase backup solution made from 304-grade stainless steel, using an automatic center punch to permanently imprint your recovery phrase onto the metal surface.
Durable Construction
- 304 Stainless Steel — Non-deformable metal construction built to last a lifetime.
- Fireproof Up to 1455°C / 2651°F — Withstands temperatures more than double that of an average house fire (~649°C / 1200°F).
- Waterproof & Corrosion Resistant — Immune to water damage and environmental corrosion.
- 3 Lock Hole Design — Multi-protection screw system keeps the plates securely fastened.
Punch-Based Etching
Unlike tile-based systems, the Keystone Tablet Punch uses an automatic center punch to create permanent divots in the metal surface, representing the first 4 letters of each BIP39 seed word. This method ensures the backup cannot be disassembled or rearranged.
Compatibility
Works with any BIP39-compliant wallet. The first 4 letters of each word are sufficient per the BIP39 standard — the word list contains 2,048 words, each uniquely identifiable by its first four characters.
Ideal Use Case
Perfect for those who prefer a permanent, unalterable backup method where the seed phrase is physically etched into metal rather than assembled from movable tiles.
Pros
- 304 stainless steel is fireproof up to 1455°C, waterproof, and corrosion resistant for extreme durability.
- 3 lock hole design with multi-protection screw system keeps plates securely fastened.
- Permanent punch-based etching creates unalterable divots on metal — tiles cannot be rearranged or tampered with.
Cons
- No included carry case or protective sleeve for storing the assembled backup.
- Requires manual punching which takes effort and precision — mistakes cannot be corrected on the same plate.
- Only uses first 4 letters of BIP39 words — limited to standard seed phrase backups.
